Amish Contemporary Shaker Round Seat Stool, 18 inch - SKU#4020L
Windsor Style Seating, with legs driven into the seat, represents a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Several stylistic adaptations and structural forms have evolved, including the Windsor Bench and Windsor Stools. In Early Colonial days and during the later pioneering times, stools were much more common in the home than were chairs. The term "Father's Chair" may hearken back to the time when Father's chair was the only chair in the house.
This Amish Contemporary Shaker Round Seat Stool reproduces many of the outstanding features of the early Shaker Windsor Stools or "Forms". By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of those original stools.
Characterized by a comfortably dished thick hardwood seat, maximum stability and durability is ensured by Shaker-style carved leg turnings that are driven deeply into the seat, and well braced by elegantly turned stretchers.
