Amish Heritage Colonial Birdcage Windsor Bench, 48 inch - SKU#3040

Windsor Chairs & Benches represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Since then, several stylistic and structural adaptations have evolved including Arrow-Back, Bow-Back, Comb-Back, Fan-Back, Paddle-Back, Sack-Back, Wheat-Back, and many other Windsor Chair varieties. The original Birdcage Windsor chair hearkens back to New England circa 1810, where popularity had shifted from the bow-backed Windsor chairs to those having a square-shaped back with the characteristic dainty-looking 'bamboo-style' turnings that give this chair style its name.

This Amish Heritage Birdcage Windsor Bench is an adaptation of the original Birdcage Windsor chairs. A relatively uncommon sight these days, this beautiful Birdcage Windsor Bench could make a relaxing addition to your family seating, as well as a unique and interesting conversation piece in your heirloom furniture collection.

A most charming and intimate seating option, and a truly distinctive accent piece for any room in Your home. Consider the pleasure that this legacy quality bench can provide to you, your family, your friends, and your heirs. It provides ample and comfortable seating for 3 adults or 4 children.

By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original Windsor benches it was modeled upon.

Guaranteed To Bring Your Family & Friends Closer Together, This Beautiful Birdcage Windsor Bench Will Also Bring You Precious Memories To Cherish!

Windsor chairs & benches of the Colonial and Federal periods were built to last by caring men who thoroughly understood their tools, materials and craft. Today, our dedicated Mennonite & Amish furniture makers undergo a long apprenticeship to develop keen eyes and skilled hands, and these expert craftsmen enjoy building Your legacy quality seating with the same unhurried care - providing you with exceptional furniture and outstanding value.

Mennonite Furniture Studios Amish Heritage Birdcage Windsor Bench Features

Note with us a few of the outstanding features which make this Amish Heritage Birdcage Windsor Bench such a popular and enduring piece:

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with graceful curves, bold angles, and a generously dished seat. The legs and arm-posts, in a stylized version of late eighteenth-century design, echo the motifs of that era in their baluster, cove, and ring turnings. Colonial Benches convey a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past. They fill a place of distinction, not only in the dining room, but also as accent pieces in the parlor, great room, library, master bedroom, larger bathroom, or entrance hall.
  • Intimate & Comfortable - they feature generously dished seats and spindles that appear delicate, but combine strength and springiness for unmatched comfort in an all-wooden seat. In short, you'll want to sit a while!
  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - built with solid hardwood materials and superior mortice-and-tenon construction, designed to endure for generations. Although many lesser colonial chairs & benches were originally made with soft pine seats (for ease of working), all of our benches use solid oak, cherry, or maple seats for added beauty and durability. Leg and arm-post tenons are long, passing through the seat and arms, and secured in place by Hickory wedges.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful Windsor bench has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance. Easy Wipe Clean - No Polish Needed!
