Windsor Chairs represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Since then, several stylistic and structural adaptations have evolved including Arrow-Back, Bow-Back, Comb-Back, Fan-Back, Paddle-Back, Sack-Back, Wheat-Back, and many other Windsor Chair varieties. The original Colonial Wheat Sheaf Bow-Back Windsor chair was so named due to the elegant depiction of a wheat sheaf set into it's bowed back support.

This Amish Contemporary Wheat Sheaf Bow-Back Windsor Arm Chair is an interpretation of the classic Wheat-Back Windsor chair which appeared in many Colonial Period homes, but with sleek adaptations to appeal to more contemporary styles and tastes. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original Colonial wheat sheaf bow-back chairs.

Characterized by smooth tapered turnings, a comfortably dished seat, and legs that are driven deeply into the seat for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back and arm support is ensured by the use of 9 ergonomically tapered back spindles, and 3 spindles supporting arm rests on each side.
