Amish Heritage Colonial Charter Bow Back Windsor Swivel Dining Stool (With Exposed Spindle Ends) - SKU#3920DE

Windsor Style Seating, with legs driven into the seat, represents a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Several stylistic adaptations and structural forms have evolved, including the Windsor Bench and Windsor Stools. In fact, stools were much more common in early Colonial homes, and also the later homes of pioneering times, than were chairs. The term "Father's Chair" may hearken back to the time when Father's chair was the only chair in the house.

This Amish Heritage Colonial Charter Bow Back Windsor Dining Stool is typical of the well-crafted stools or "forms" produced in many country shops of the late Colonial Period. Authentic Spindle Styling - the spindles pass right through the bow, are secured in place with hickory wedges, and are then sanded back to a level finish. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of those original stools.

Characterized by a comfortably dished thick hardwood seat, maximum stability and durability is ensured by Colonial-style carved leg turnings that are driven deeply into the seat, and well braced by gracefully turned stretchers.

The Colonial Charter Bow Back Windsor Counter Stool Offers Graceful & Comfortable Seating At Your Kitchen Counter Or Bar!

Note with us a few of the outstanding features which make this Colonial Charter Bow Back Windsor Dining Stool such a popular and enduring piece:

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with gracefully carved legs and stretchers, this Colonial New Charter Windsor Dining Stool conveys a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past. Faithfully echoing the Colonial motif in Your home.
  • Supremely Comfortable - Dining Stool Seat height is 24 inches (matching counter stool seat height is 30 inches). The generously dished seat provides ample support and a secure feeling. In short, you'll want to sit a while!
  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - The swivel mechanism features large ball bearings and hardened races, for smooth operation and durability. Built with solid hardwood materials and superior legacy construction techniques, designed to endure for generations. Although most original Colonial seats were made from soft pine (for ease of working), this stool features a solid oak hardwood or cherry hardwood seat for added beauty and durability. Leg tenons are long, penetrating deeply into the thick seat.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful Colonial stool has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance. Easy Wipe Clean - No Polish Needed!
