Amish Classic Colonial Bow Back Windsor Swivel Dining Stool - SKU#3910D
Windsor Style Seating, with legs driven into the seat, represents a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Several stylistic adaptations and structural forms have evolved, including the Windsor Bench and Windsor Stools. In fact, stools were much more common in early Colonial homes, and also the later homes of pioneering times, than were chairs. The term "Father's Chair" may hearken back to the time when Father's chair was the only chair in the house.
This Amish Classic Colonial Bow Back Windsor Dining Stool is a true reproduction antique presenting the most outstanding features of the early Colonial Windsor Stools or "Forms". By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of those original stools.
Characterized by a comfortably-dished thick hardwood seat, maximum stability and durability is ensured by Colonial-style carved leg turnings that are driven deeply into the seat, and well braced by gracefully turned stretchers.
