Amish Classic Queen Anne Westminster Round Topd Windsor Elbow Chair - SKU#3740-A

Windsor Chairs represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. After this time, the English Windsors differed from their North American counterparts in various details, as several stylistic and structural adaptations evolved on each side of the Atlantic.

This Amish Classic Queen Anne Westminster Round Top'd Windsor 'Elbow' Chair is a faithful reproduction of an original eighteenth-century English bow-back Windsor design, produced in the Westminster area of London. Note the backsplat, ornamented with pierced openings (as made popular by Chippendale, circa 1760). Strong Queen Anne influence is seen in the cabriole front legs, which are connected by a horseshoe stretcher, with knee brackets to the turned back legs. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) this reproduction piece actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original English bow-back chair.

Characterized by a traditional back style, a comfortably dished seat, and strongly attached and braced legs for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back support is ensured by the use of the 4 back spindles and the center pierced slat.

An English Furniture Masterpiece - This Authentic Reproduction Antique Westminster Round Top'd Windsor 'Elbow' Chair Could Make An Elegant And Unusual Conversation Piece In Your Home!

English Windsor chairs of the Eighteenth Century were built to last by caring men who thoroughly understood their tools, materials and craft. Mennonite Furniture Studios Amish Classic Windsor Chair Features

Note with us a few of the outstanding features which make this Amish Classic Windsor Chair such a popular and enduring piece:

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with graceful curves and bold angles, this beautiful Windsor Chair conveys a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past. It will fill a place of distinction, not only in Your dining room, but also as an accent piece in the parlor, great room, or library. It simply looks right!
  • Supremely Comfortable - with generously dished seat and spindles that appear delicate, but combine strength and springiness for unmatched comfort in an all-wooden chair. In short, you'll want to sit a while!
  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - built with solid hardwood materials and superior mortise-and-tenon construction, designed to endure for generations. Although many original antique chairs were originally made with soft pine seats (for ease of working), all of our chairs use solid oak, cherry, or maple seats for added beauty and durability. Leg and arm-post tenons are long, and deeply socketed for maximum strength.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful Windsor chair has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance. Easy Wipe Clean - No Polish Needed!
