Amish Heritage Mission Mule Chest, 82 inch - SKU#1170
Mission Style Furniture originated with the European "Arts & Crafts" movement of the late 1880's, and was popularized in America in the early years of the 20th century by the craftsman, Gustav Stickley. The Mission style is characterized by a pragmatic approach that endeavors to emphasize the natural beauty of the wood - using straight lines, right angles, rectangular shapes, and graceful arches, with additional ornamentation derived only from construction elements such as joints and pegs.
This most handsome Amish Heritage Mission Mule Chest incorporates some of the best elements of the style to create a truly unique traditional bedroom piece which meets the needs of our modern lifestyles. This large cabinet, easily passing for a built-in, is a "hybrid" piece (combining a triple dresser with an oversized armoire top) that aptly deserves the name "mule". It is a workhorse of a furniture piece, providing ample drawer space in its six large and four small drawers. The area above has lots of shelf storage behind the three big doors, and part (or all) of the upper part can be provided with a rod for hanging garments. All of this practical storage capacity is contained in a piece so gracefully proportioned and true to Mission styling.
This beautiful heirloom quality Mission Mule Chest is carefully designed and constructed, using time-tested engineering principles, to be strong and durable. Solid hardwood components joined together with infinite care result in a furniture piece that can be passed down through successive generations in your family. Custom built - You choose from a wide range of finishes (see sample thumbnails above) to fit your existing furniture and décor. Typical hardware on Mission furniture is in keeping with the furniture's own simply elegant lines. When specifying your mission furniture, we suggest you choose from "wrought iron mission pull" or "square hardwood knob" to remain true to original design philosophy.
