Queen Anne Style prevailed in the English Colonies from about 1720 until well into the Chippendale era which began in the mid-1750's. Typical elements of Queen Anne style include cabriole legs, repeated use of the "cyma" curve, and a gracefulness of construction which stood in contrast to the blockier furniture of the preceding William and Mary style.
