Amish Heritage Colonial Mates Swivel Counter Stool - SKU#3940C

Windsor Style Seating, with legs driven into the seat, represents a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Several stylistic adaptations and structural forms have evolved, including the Windsor Bench and Windsor Stools. In fact, stools were much more common in early Colonial homes, and also the later homes of pioneering times, than were chairs. The term "Father's Chair" may hearken back to the time when Father's chair was the only chair in the house.

This Amish Heritage Colonial Mate's Windsor Counter Stool is a charmingly stylized version of the early Windsor Low-Back chairs and stools, reproducings many of their outstanding features. Typical of furniture found in general use in waterfront inns and shipboard officer's quarters, these stools follow a masterpiece of sturdy furniture design. One can almost imagine the "Ancient Mariner" seated on one of these stools as he spins his nautical yarns. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original low-back Windsor chairs and stools.

Characterized by a comfortably dished thick hardwood seat, maximum stability and durability is ensured by Colonial-style carved leg turnings that are driven deeply into the seat, and well braced by gracefully turned stretchers.
