Amish Heritage Colonial Spring Meadow Rocking Chair - SKU#3860-R

The Rocking Chair is believed to be an original American invention of the late 18th Century, and has evolved considerably throughout time, resulting in today's broad range of rockers and gliders. In the late Victorian age, furniture making was transitioning from exclusive reliance on hand work to a greater dependence on intricately machined ornamentation – which characterizes the premier pieces of that time.

Named for their ornate back slat design - a whimsical portrayal of a flowering lilly field in Spring - Spring Meadow Chairs are beautiful and ornate pieces of furniture. The outstanding characteristics of this rocking chair are ample size, a relatively straight back, and very sturdy construction.

This quality oak hardwood Spring -Meadow Rocking Chair features a steam-embossed lilly motif on the back, and exceptionally smooth-rocking runners. It is characterized by deeply carved turnings, a comfortably dished seat, and legs that are driven deep into the seat for maximum stability and durability. This is a true heirloom quality rocking chair - using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and finishes, it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original rocking chairs it is modeled on.

For Those Who Prefer More Upright Seating, This Heirloom Quality Solid Oak Hardwood Amish Heritage Spring Meadow Rocking Chair Is Sure To Be The Most Popular Seat In Your Home!

Windsor chairs of the Colonial and Federal periods were built to last by caring men who thoroughly understood their tools, materials and craft. Today, our dedicated Mennonite & Amish furniture makers undergo a long apprenticeship to develop keen eyes and skilled hands, and these expert craftsmen enjoy building Your legacy quality seating with the same unhurried care - providing you with exceptional furniture and outstanding value.

Mennonite Furniture Studios Amish Heritage Spring Meadow Rocking Chair Features

Note with us a few of the outstanding features which make this Amish Heritage Spring Meadow Rocking Chair such a popular and enduring piece:

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with graceful curves, bold angles, and a deeply scalloped seat that justifies the name - "saddle". The legs and arm-posts, dating from the latter half of the eighteenth century, display a crispness and definitiveness in their outstanding baluster, cove, and ring turnings. This Amish Heritage Windsor Chair conveys a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past. It will fill a place of distinction in any room of your home. It simply looks right!
  • Supremely Comfortable - with generously dished seat, comfortable back and arm support is ensured by the wrap around back with 5 turned back spindles and curved arm supports on each side. In short, you'll want to sit and rock a while!
  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - built with solid oak hardwood and superior mortise-and-tenon construction. Double box stretchers and bent-wood hip braces reinforce security and stability - designed to endure for generations. Although many lesser colonial chairs were originally made with soft pine seats (for ease of working), all of our chairs use solid oak, cherry, or maple seats for added beauty and durability. Leg and arm-post tenons are long, passing through the seat and arms, and secured in place by Hickory wedges.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful hardwood rocking chair has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance. Easy Wipe Clean - No Polish Needed!

Hardwood Furniture Semi-Transparent Stains

Semi-Transparent Stains take on a different appearance, depending upon the underlying wood characterstics - See The Finish Chips At The Top Of This Page.
