Amish Heritage Colonial Thumb Back Swivel Dining Stool - SKU#4000D

Windsor Style Seating, with legs driven into the seat, represents a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Several stylistic adaptations and structural forms have evolved, including the Windsor Bench and Windsor Stools. In fact, stools were much more common in early Colonial homes, and also the later homes of pioneering times, than were chairs. The term "Father's Chair" may hearken back to the time when Father's chair was the only chair in the house.

This Amish Heritage Thumb-Back Windsor Dining Stool is typical of the American Windsor chairs & stools of the early nineteenth century. At this time, Americans were fascinated by things oriental, thus the popularity of the "bamboo-style" turnings. Though it appears very delicate, this light and extremely graceful stool is in fact very sturdy. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of those original chairs and stools.

Characterized by bamboo-style turnings, a comfortable dished seat, and legs that are driven deeply into the seat for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back and arm support is ensured by the use of 9 ergonomically arched back spindles.

The Colonial Thumb Back Windsor Dining Stool Offers Graceful & Comfortable Seating In Your Home!
