Amish Heritage Colonial New England Windsor Rocking Chair - SKU#3840-R

The Rocking Chair is believed to be an original American invention of the late 18th Century, and has evolved considerably throughout time, resulting in today's broad range of rockers, glider-rockers, and swivel-rockers. Each of the lasting innovations in rocking chair design was initially driven by the demands of increased comfort and/or improved style.

This Colonial Style New England Arm Rocking Chair is a true heirloom quality piece, and an adaption inspired by original pieces made in both Connecticut and Rhode Island during the late eighteenth century. The continuous back/arm bending is the trademark of this particular rocking chair style.

Like its' Early American prototypes, this rocking chair features an adaption of our regular Windsor Chair legs, and the addition of balanced and exceptionally smooth-rocking runners. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original rocking chairs that it evolved from.

This Heirloom Quality New England Windsor Rocking Chair Will Make A Most Graceful Addition to Your Favorite Room And Will Become One Of Your Most Used And Loved Chairs!

The original Early American rocking chairs were built to last by caring men who thoroughly understood their tools, materials and craft. Today, our dedicated Mennonite & Amish furniture makers undergo a long apprenticeship to develop keen eyes and skilled hands, and these expert craftsmen enjoy building Your legacy quality chairs with the same unhurried care - providing you with exceptional furniture and outstanding value.

Mennonite Furniture StudiosNew England Windsor Arm Rocking Chair Features

Note with us a few of the outstanding features which make this Amish Heritage New England Windsor Rocking Chair such a popular and enduring piece:

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with graceful curves, bold angles, and deeply scalloped seats that justify their name - "saddle". Their legs and arm-posts, dating from the latter half of the eighteenth century, display a crispness and definitiveness in their outstanding baluster, cove, and ring turnings. Amish Heritage Windsor Rocking Chairs convey a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past. They fill a place of distinction, not only in the living room, but also as accent pieces in the parlor, great room, or bedroom. They simply look right!
  • Supremely Comfortable - with generously dished seats. Their spindles appear delicate, but combine strength and springiness for unmatched comfort in an all-wooden rocking chair. The wrap-around arms provide support and a secure feeling. In short, you'll want to rock a while!
  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - built with solid hardwood materials and superior mortice-and-tenon construction, designed to endure for generations. Although many lesser colonial chairs were originally made with soft pine seats (for ease of working), all of our chairs use solid oak, cherry, or maple seats for added beauty and durability. Leg and arm-post tenons are long, passing through the seat and arms, and secured in place by Hickory wedges.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful hardwood rocking chair has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance. Easy Wipe Clean - No Polish Needed!
