Amish Heritage Colonial Duxbury Fan Back Windsor Desk Arm Chair - SKU#3660-AD
Windsor Chairs represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Since then, several stylistic and structural adaptations have evolved including Arrow-Back, Bow-Back, Comb-Back, Fan-Back, Paddle-Back, Sack-Back, Wheat-Back, and many other Windsor Chair varieties. The original Fan-Back Windsor chair was so named due to it's obviously fan-shaped back support.
This Amish Heritage Duxbury Fan-Back Windsor Desk Chair is modeled on the Duxbury Arm Chair, and reproduces many of the outstanding features of the Colonial-style fan-back Windsors produced between 1795 and 1805, with a touch of country charm. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of those original Windsor chairs.
Characterized by deeply carved turnings, a comfortable dished seat, and widely spread legs on casters for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back and arm support is ensured by the use of 7ergonomically tapered back spindles and arm rests on each side.
