Amish Heritage Charter Bow Back Windsor Arm Chair - SKU#3360-A

Windsor Chairs represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Since then, several stylistic and structural adaptations have evolved including Arrow-Back, Bow-Back, Comb-Back, Fan-Back, Paddle-Back, Sack-Back, Wheat-Back, and many other Windsor Chair varieties. The original Bow-Back Windsor chair was so named due to it's unitary bowed back support rail.

This Amish Heritage Charter Bow-Back Windsor Arm Chair is a small chair, typical of those produced in many country shops of the late Colonial Period. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original Colonial bow-back chairs.

Characterized by deeply carved turnings, a comfortable dished seat, and legs that are driven deeply into the seat for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back and arm support is ensured by the use of 7 ergonomically tapered back spindles and traditional curved arms on each side, supported by a turned post.

This Heirloom Quality Authentic Colonial Windsor Chair Is An Excellent Choice For Those Who Prefer A Smaller Chair, Or Where Seating Space Is Limited!

Windsor chairs of the Colonial and Federal periods were built to last by caring men who thoroughly understood their tools, materials and craft. Today, our dedicated Mennonite & Amish furniture makers undergo a long apprenticeship to develop keen eyes and skilled hands, and these expert craftsmen enjoy building Your legacy quality seating with the same unhurried care - providing you with exceptional furniture and outstanding value.

Mennonite Furniture Studios Amish Heritage Windsor Chair Features

Note with us a few of the outstanding features which make this Amish Heritage Windsor Chair such a popular and enduring piece:

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with graceful curves and bold angles, this beautiful Windsor Chair conveys a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past. It will fill a place of distinction, not only in Your dining room, but also as an accent piece in the parlor, great room, or library. It simply looks right!
  • Supremely Comfortable - with generously dished seat and spindles that appear delicate, but combine strength and springiness for unmatched comfort in an all-wooden chair. In short, you'll want to sit a while!
  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - built with solid hardwood materials and superior mortise-and-tenon construction, designed to endure for generations. Although many lesser Colonial chairs were originally made with soft pine seats (for ease of working), all of our chairs use solid oak, cherry, or maple seats for added beauty and durability. Leg and arm-post tenons are long, and deeply socketed for maximum strength.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful Windsor chair has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance. Easy Wipe Clean - No Polish Needed!
