Amish Heritage Shaker Ladder Back Side Chair - SKU#3760

Shaker Chairs have long been admired for their simple elegance and excellent durability. In the late 1700's several religious communities of the Society of Believers in the Second Coming of Christ sprang up along the eastern seaboard of the US. Known as Shakers for their worship exercises, they have since become famous for the material results of their religious fervor. Initially, their furniture was made only for use within their own communities, but the simple beauty of these early Shaker pieces soon became broadly recognized, and publicly available. The outstanding characteristics of Shaker-inspired furniture are mostly straight lines, right angles, the occasional gentle arch, and a simple elegance in absence of intricate ornamentation.

This Amish Heritage Shaker Ladder-Back Side Chair follows a true masterpiece of Shaker chair design and is typical of the style. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original Shaker chair.

Characterized by unadorned Shaker-style turnings, a comfortably dished hardwood seat, and strongly braced legs for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back support is ensured by the use of ergonomically curved back-splats and steam-bent back-posts.

This Heirloom Quality Shaker Ladder-Back Chair Features Timeless Design Elements That Will Beautifully Compliment Either Traditional Or Contemporary Décor!

The original Shaker chairs were built to last by caring men who thoroughly understood their tools, materials and craft. Today, our dedicated Mennonite & Amish furniture makers undergo a long apprenticeship to develop keen eyes and skilled hands, and these expert craftsmen enjoy building Your legacy quality seating with the same unhurried care - providing you with exceptional furniture and outstanding value.

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with a timeless elegance, this beautiful Shaker Chair conveys a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past. It will fill a place of distinction, not only in Your dining room, but also as an accent piece in the parlor, great room, or library. It simply looks right!

  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - built with solid hardwood materials and superior mortise-and-tenon construction, designed to endure for generations. Leg posts are double braced for maximum strength.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful Windsor chair has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance.
