Amish Heritage Queen Anne Side Chair (Upholstered) - SKU#3720-SU
Queen Anne Chairs are named after the English monarch (r.1702-1714) , but their form is inspired by earlier Dutch and Rococo (French Louis XV) styling. The English adapted the European furniture styles of that era, and their pieces then crossed the Atlantic to Queen Anne's New World Colonies. This Queen Anne Style Furniture prevailed in the English Colonies from about 1720 until well into the Chippendale era (which began in the mid-1750's). Here, the style underwent further transformation, resulting in the Queen Anne furniture that we appreciate today.
This Amish Heritage Queen Anne Side Chair is typical of the American chairs of the period. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of those original Queen Anne chairs.
Characterized by typical elements of the Queen Anne style including cabriole legs, repeated use of the "cyma" curve, and a gracefulness of construction which stands in contrast to the blockier furniture of the preceding William and Mary style. This Queen Anne chair offers a comfortable upholstered seat, and is built using legacy carpentry techniques for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back support is ensured by the use of an elegantly shaped back splat.
