The Rocking Chair is believed to be an original American invention of the late 18th Century, and has evolved considerably throughout time, resulting in today's broad range of rockers and gliders. In the late Victorian age, furniture making was transitioning from exclusive reliance on hand work to a greater dependence on intricately machined ornamentation – which characterizes the premier pieces of that time.

Named for their ornate back slat design - a whimsical portrayal of a flowering lilly field in Spring - Spring Meadow Chairs are beautiful and ornate pieces of furniture. The outstanding characteristics of this rocking chair are ample size, a relatively straight back, and very sturdy construction.
