Amish Heritage Charter Bow Back Windsor Desk Arm Chair - SKU#3360-AD
Windsor Chairs represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Since then, several stylistic and structural adaptations have evolved including Arrow-Back, Bow-Back, Comb-Back, Fan-Back, Paddle-Back, Sack-Back, Wheat-Back, and many other Windsor Chair varieties. The original Bow-Back Windsor chair was so named due to it's unitary bowed back support rail.
This Amish Heritage Charter Bow-Back Windsor Desk Chair is modeled on the Charter Bow-Back Windsor Arm Chair, a small chair, typical of those produced in many country shops of the late Colonial Period. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original Colonial bow-back chairs.
Characterized by deeply carved turnings, a comfortable dished seat, and widely spread legs on casters for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back and arm support is ensured by the use of 7 ergonomically tapered back spindles and traditional curved arms on each side, supported by a turned post.
