Amish Contemporary New England Windsor Desk Chair - SKU#3410-AD

Windsor Chairs represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction. The original English Windsor Chair has traveled extensively throughout the centuries, first coming to America in about 1726. Since then, several stylistic and structural adaptations have evolved including Arrow-Back, Bow-Back, Comb-Back, Fan-Back, Paddle-Back, Sack-Back, Wheat-Back, and many other Windsor Chair varieties. The New England Windsor Chair style is named after it's point of origin, in the Connecticut Valley of New England.

This Amish Contemporary New England Windsor Desk Chair is modeled on the Contemporary New England Windsor Arm Chair. By using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original New England Windsor chair.

Characterized by a gracefully curved steam-bent rail that unites the chair back rest and arms into a single unit, smooth tapered turnings, a comfortably dished seat, and widely spread legs on casters for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back and arm support is ensured by the use of 9 ergonomically tapered back-spindles and 3 spindles supporting the arm rest on each side.

This Heirloom Quality Contemporary New England Windsor Is An Excellent Choice For Those Who Appreciate The Sturdiness Of Legacy Construction But Are Seeking A Particularly Sleek And Modern Look!

Windsor chairs of the Colonial and Federal periods were built to last by caring men who thoroughly understood their tools, materials and craft. Today, our dedicated Mennonite & Amish furniture makers undergo a long apprenticeship to develop keen eyes and skilled hands, and these expert craftsmen enjoy building Your legacy quality seating with the same unhurried care - providing you with exceptional furniture and outstanding value.

Mennonite Furniture Studios Amish Contemporary Windsor Chair Features

Note with us a few of the outstanding features which make this COntemporary Windsor Chair such a popular and enduring piece:

  • Classic Beauty In Your Home - with graceful curves and bold angles, this beautiful Windsor Chair conveys a sense of history and a tangible connection to our past – with a modern look. It will fill a place of distinction, not only in Your dining room, but also as an accent piece in the parlor, great room, or library. It simply looks right!
  • Supremely Comfortable - with generously dished seat and spindles that appear delicate, but combine strength and springiness for unmatched comfort in an all-wooden chair. In short, you'll want to sit a while!
  • Extreme Durability, With Very Low Maintenance - built with solid hardwood materials and superior mortise-and-tenon construction, designed to endure for generations. Although many traditional Windsor chairs were originally made with soft pine seats (for ease of working), all of our chairs use solid oak, cherry, or maple seats for added beauty and durability. Leg and arm-post tenons are long, and deeply socketed for maximum strength.

Whether you choose a solid black finish or a semi-transparent stain finish (Order oak, cherry or maple hardwood samples to see our range of finish colors in Your home), this beautiful Windsor chair has a smooth, durable varnish top-coat which brings out the natural beauty of the wood but resists water and most common household chemicals to minimize care and maintenance. Easy Wipe Clean - No Polish Needed!
