Amish Contemporary Fan Back Windsor Side Chair - SKU#6060
This modern Fan-Back Windsor Chair offers graceful, comfortable, and sturdy modern seating with a solid heritage based in classic furniture design. Windsor Chairs represent a high point in the landscape of furniture design & construction, originating in England and first coming to Colonial America in about 1726.
This Amish Contemporary Fan-Back Windsor Side Chair is a modern rendering of the original "Fan-Back" chair - a masterpiece of classic furniture design produced by Beriah Green in New London County, Connecticut, circa 1797. In comparison, this modern chair retains the essence of the original Fan-Back chair design, but features unadorned turnings rather than the more intricate Colonial-style turnings of it's highly distinguished forefather. Indeed, by using 100% premium American hardwood components combined with modern glues and a range of quality finishes (see thumbnails above) it actually surpasses the beauty and durability of the original Fan-Back chairs.
Characterized by elegant modern turnings, a comfortable dished seat, and legs that are socketed deeply into the seat for maximum stability and durability. Comfortable back support is ensured by the use of 2 posts and 9 ergonomically arched back spindles.
